Assorted Snacks

The Rolling Stones Discotech remix of Satisfaction is nuts.

The Mickey Avalon album has been out for a while now, but somehow Jane Fonda and My Dick were the only songs people heard from it. Check out So Rich, So Pretty… thanks Laura T for sending that track my way.

For all you Katy Perry teenyboppers out there who have probably driven that song into the ground, here’s a hot remix from Calvin Harris. It’s pretty catchy and I feel less guilty about blasting that song in the car (windows up, volume way down haha). Anything Calvin Harris touches turns to gold, also check out his new album Ready for the Weekend.

Apple basically launched the Ting Tings career when they used this song in one of their ads, and Dj’s Left and Right remixed it, really catchy beat. I thought the original song was annoying (especially the music video).

Also, Dj Chachi shared music this week from K’naan, an artist who escaped war in Somalia and now is dropping beats with Maroon5 on Tour. His album is fire, check out the ABC’s track I posted

Calvin Harris & Other Tracks

Dance Wiv Me is a really hot track. I first heard this on DJ AM's Elton Part 1 mix from Elton John's Birthday and have been (over)playing it ever since. Dizzee Rascal's been around for a while but Calvin Harris pumped new life into his tunes. Make sure to get Calvin's new album Ready for the Weekend, it's simply amazing. (Especially You Used to Hold Me, Stars Come Out, and The Rain) Get it now!

Everyone loves the original Use Somebody, but the Chew Fu Festival Remix of this song is bananas. Also, Chillin with Wale and Lady Gage is much catchier than the original track.

Hot Stuff

The entire Empire of the Sun Album is great, reminds me of MGMT. I heard from a friend that the Laidback Luke remix of Nas was played at LIV at the Fontainebleau in Miami Beach and everyone went nuts. Pretty intense.

Shwayze is always good, his new album "Let it Beat" was released yesterday, get it on iTunes, can't post that up for free ;) .. can i??

New Mixes from Jason Smith

Jason is going to be making these mixes every month now. He takes an open-format approach to music and blends anything with anything for a great final product.

His workout mix is an iPod necessity for the gym. It's a blend of high energy songs that really put you into a great mood. Includes Cut/Copy, Daft Punk, and a range of other really good artists and producers.

AM/Spinbad

Any music lover needs these classics, DJ AM called Spinbad's mix the best mixtape of all time, and DJ AM's live set from Elton John's bday is a great mix to chill out to.

DJ AM was a driving force and left a lasting mark on the music community. R.I.P.
